Overall: Affordable Chic for Young, Healthy Travelers
The vibe is gypsy cool overflowing with beautiful people and a contagious plant-based and yoga-centric philosophy. The Shift Hotel is located right above Alchemy Cafe, an amazing raw vegan spot in Ubud, which sold me on staying here in the first place. It’s a new hotel, so everything is new. This is a great place to stay with friends, since the area is great and there’s a lot going on minutes from the hotel. I did wake up to a rooster a few times in the middle of the night (actually though), but that doesn’t take away from the inviting staff, chill vibes, and awesome rates. (Starting at $49/night)
The Shift Hotel is a young boutiquey hotel located right above Alchemy Cafe and Holistic Clinic. The hotel rooms are all new and adorable fitting up to 2 people max. There’s a pool located in the center courtyard, a yoga studio upstairs, and a plant-based cafe that shares the same kitchen with Alchemy (same owner).
At just under $50 a night you really can’t complain with what you’re getting. Everything is new and even though it’s small, it’s still more than enough space to fit you and a friend.
This is the part that you’ll wish you could stay forever. Everything is raw, plant-based, and soooo vibrant. I feel healthier just looking at the food. For breakfast you’re offered an incredible choice of breakfast bowls. I got the one pictured above and it was absolutely amazing. I poured over the papaya yogurt in the glass and ate it with a spoon. I’d go back just for this.
Good service, can’t complain.
YOGA! The Shift is all about clean, healthy living so yoga is a big thing here. There’s also massages, steam, and sauna, but you have to pay extra for these. There’s a whole schedule of yoga classes going on, so you can pretty much catch one at any time.
