Long week and plenty of exciting new things on my radar, so I saved my favorites for this week’s Friday Fives.
As a disclaimer, I believe it’s important I inform you that I’m not exactly sure how this “Friday Fives” she-bang works, but I have come across a few blogger chicks doing a similar thing so I decided why not?! This week gets the blog’s first Friday Fives primarily because I finally feel (actually, felt) settled and back into the groove of things. I write settled in past tense because I’m sitting on my first of three airplanes as I write this today.
Dude. I’ve obviously always known smoothies existed, but for the past few years they’ve lived as a second (or third, or fourth) thought in my mind. Because I unpacked my new and never used Vitamix this week, I became inspired to blend my fruits and greens again. One of my favorite smoothies I made this week was a really delicious blend of vanilla almond milk, creamy almond butter, cacao powder, and coconut yogurt. So good you’d never even know it was vegan! I even topped it with cacao nibs and goji berries for an extra touch.
2. Fashion Bloggers.
If you looked at my Instagram page 6 months ago, you would see that I clearly only like, follow, and engage with food pages. Because of the Explore option on Instagram, I started browsing around and discovered a whole new world of bloggers. I’ve become particularly intrigued with the fashion world and I think it’s mostly because so many of these bloggers really let you into their lives. I’m now following SomethingNavy, ChiaraFerragni, and EishesStyle to name a few.
3. Golden Milk.
I posted about Golden Milk last week and am still basking in this paradise of a golden powder. Golden Milk is a delicious combination of turmeric, ashwagandha, dates, and herbs formulated into a soft, fragrant powder that supports and tonifies the entire body*. I’ve gone from one mug of warm Golden Milk and coconut milk at night to including it as part of my calming morning and afternoon ritual too.
4. Instagram Story.
Instagram Story is the most exciting thing to happen since Snapchat, considering it’s pretty much identical. Not only do I have a blast watching all the new fashion blogger chicks I’m following, but also FOOD BLOGS! My favorites for on the spot recipe inspiration right now are BusyInBrooklyn, The_Chefs_Wife, and TheModestMom.
Strength, Lengthen, Tone. I spent the last few weeks in New York and was frequenting this mega-former, fast-paced pilates-like workout. The high energy, positive energy, and quick-paced nature of the workout had me coming back for more. And believe it or not, I started seeing amazing toning results within a week. I recommend trying it out!
