Touchdown in NYC and believe it or not, my first stop was The Sisley Spa followed by a visit at the Yves Durif Salon. I should preface that for the 3 weeks prior to arriving to New York I was looking forward to this visit. I’ve done several spa/hotel reviews on my blog, but this one was particularly exciting to me because I’ve been a fan of Sisley products for a while now and I really trust the quality of their products. Not to mention The Carlyle hotel, where the spa and salon are located, is right in my old neighborhood so the whole experience hits home for me.
Are you ready for this one? Lets do it.
Not going to lie, I strategically planned that right after the early morning airplane ride I’d end up blissing out at the spa. I wanted to look and feel relaxed and revitalized upon arriving in the city, so I went with a Zen Harmony Photo-Aromatic Body Treatment. I was greeted by more than friendly staff that showed me to the locker room and then the waiting room for my practitioner to come get me. After my fair share of nuts and sparkling water I was led to a very cozy massage room down a flight of chandelier covered stairs. While the spa and salon areas are more boutique style in size, they’re nothing short of luxurious from heated massage tables to an extremely welcoming staff. The massage itself was perfect, so perfect I actually fell asleep for a few minutes. 🙂
The salon and spa are both in the same area, except the spa rooms are down the flight of stairs. The actual salon portion is split into three rooms, one for color, one for cuts, and one for washing/blow-dry/makeup. Between the welcome desk, spa, and salon there’s a beautiful little vintage shop section with some of the most stunning Chanel bags I’ve seen. But I’ll admit that after the massage, I was on a high so there was nothing that wasn’t nearly perfect. Everyone was so open, welcoming, and kind at the salon you’d think I was a regular (which I very well may become!). I began the salon experience with a wash and blow dry finished off with a makeup touchup by what might’ve been one of the most talented makeup artists I’ve ever worked with. In fact, everyone I worked with at the salon was talented in what they do. The blow-dry was quick and came out looking perfect, not only that but it also lasted for 3 days post dry. I think the reason I was also so impressed with the makeup was because it appeared really natural, was geared towards my skin type, and lasted all night long.
As far as I can remember everything worked out better than I expected. I didn’t expect to leave with a full face of makeup, or nearly as blissed out as I did. The massage, the hair, the makeup, and the service were all exceptional. I truly felt like a very longtime customer upon coming in and leaving that makes me want to become a longtime customer. It’s funny how things work out! I’ll be back soon, thank you again to The Sisley Spa and Yves Durif Salon at The Carlyle Hotel in New York City.
