First thing’s first, holistic?!? I definitely don’t mean eating kale religiously or signing yourself up for a meditation retreat in Indonesia. Instead, I’m thinking a bit more on the realistic and balanced side of things. Below are things that you could incorporate into your lifestyle to enhance the way you feel on a day to day basis. If you don’t know me already, I don’t do extremes and I’m all about normalcy. I believe in eating your cake and still drinking your greens. ?
Now I’m not saying eat junk 20% of the time, but still maintain that healthy balance. Good quality food means things that are fresh from nature, unprocessed, and unrefined. Think abundant fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. This can also mean fresh grilled fish and grains like quinoa, barley, and oats. True beauty starts from the inside out, so nourishment is an essential key.
2. Expand on positive relationships.
I recently watched a video on what made people the happiest in the long term. Was it the money they made? Getting married? Having a yacht? The answer was none of the above. Instead it was surrounding themselves with positive people who they truly enjoyed being around. We can’t choose all of the people we hang around, but we can choose most of them so building on relationships that feed you is essential to whole beauty.
Interpret this as you’d like, but the main message here is to continue to take care of your body. Small acts like showing your hair, skin, and nails love, results in more self-love. It’s true that when you take care of yourself, you do things that are less likely to sabotage that relationship you have with yourself. A few ways I give my body time is by making a point to get my nails done, using my favorite body scrub, and taking vitafusion™ Hair, Skin & Nails to add essential nutrients to fight free radical and produce collagen.*4. Drink tea before bed.
Incorporating a mini tea ritual into your evenings is such a nice way to wind down. I always recommend an after dinner/before bed herbal tea like chamomile or peppermint to calm the mind and ease into sleep mode. Hot water, tea, lemon, and honey are the perfect way to call it a night.
I usually advise on 8 hours of sleep, but for so many go-getter people that’s just not in the cards for them on an average week and it could sound daunting. If you’re going to bed at 11:30 pm and waking up at 7 am, it sounds a little more realistic. Working away on your iPhone and laptop right before bed isn’t always the best move to a great night’s sleep though. I’ll often take a vitafusion™ Beauty Sleep gummy right before bed because it helps support sleep with 3mg of melatonin and Vitamin D.*6. Pay attention to your breath.
When you’re angry, your breath becomes long and deep. When you’re anxious, your breath becomes short and quick. It’s true that controlling your breath can often control your mood. When you find yourself in a state outside of your natural way of being, go back to your breath. Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Another vitafusion™ gummy that’s great to relax and help with emotional wellness is Relaxed Mood. It promotes calm and relaxation with 200 mg L-Theanine, plus zinc.*7. Stop negative self-talk in its tracks.
Your thoughts turn into actions, so it’s important to place a filter on any self-shaming or negative thoughts getting in your way. If you’re telling yourself, “Ugh I’m so fat”, you’re strengthening that idea and instead of doing things that will get you closer to your goal weight, you’ll wallow in sadness and possibly end up emotionally eating to cope with the feeling.
Positive thoughts bring positive action! Good luck, lovelies.
