Fiber has always been one of the magic nutrients that help with weight loss and revving up the metabolism. It keeps us full with less calories, longer. Lately I’ve been on a big fiber kick myself and have completely changed my eating habits. It’s one of those things that I always knew about, but didn’t quite put into action enough. Fiber and protein are two of the most powerful, and strategic, nutrients everyone should be consuming for overall health and weight loss.
- GG crackers with smoked salmon.
These crackers are my new (over a year, so maybe not so new!) partners in crime. I love to dress them up with all sorts of toppings, but lately one of my favorites has been smoked salmon. I used to shy away from smoked salmon because of the high levels of sodium, but a small serving (generally one piece) won’t wreak enough havoc to justify completely avoiding it.
- Egg white omelette with a side of berries.
I’m obsessed with egg whites lately. Since the whites are only 14-16 calories per egg, feel free to have anywhere from 4-6 whites. If you want a yolk, I recommend 2 whites and 1 full egg. Eggs are a great source of lean protein and berries are the perfect low-sugar fiber pairing.
- NBTF Real Fruit Bite snacks.
When buying packaged snacks I’m super specific on what the ingredient list looks like. These bite-sized snacks are made with all real fruit that’s picked, pureed, and pressed. They’re non-GMO, vegan, and gluten free with no added sugars, artificial flavors, or preservatives. They sell at most Starbucks locations, so if you’re on-the-go they’re a convenient option. I also sprinkle them over 0% Greek yogurt. 🙂
