I’m getting real on the blog today talking about the holidays. Aside from the obvious reasons one would love the holidays like presents (!!!) and time off from pretty much everything, there’s also reconnecting with your loved ones. I’m finally making my way home from Indonesia and getting really excited to be back home, wherever that is nowadays. I’ve had a helluva time away, but now I’m ready to get grounded and comfortable in one place I can call home. Missing family so much has made me want to make an open-ended stop in the sunshine state.
I admit that Miami isn’t the most holiday spirited of all places, but the truth is that when you miss family so much it doesn’t really matter where your spending them as long as you’re with the people that make you feel at home. And I mean home in the sense that you’re loved, supported, and accepted wholeheartedly. Traveling around the world and getting lost in places you’ve never even seen on a map can feel scary, and it definitely happens. There were days that I couldn’t wait to board my flight home, hide under my covers, and never come out. Granted, I also had some of the most incredible moments of my life, but it was in sincere panic and fear that I couldn’t wait for the holidays at home.
Of course the spirit isn’t complete without some warm chocolate. I’ve been hooked on GODIVA lately, and even raved about their hot chocolate on the blog already. If you haven’t tried or gifted their holiday chocolates, I highly recommend it.
All in all, I needed a place to pour out my holiday emotions and share some really good chocolate treats with you. It’s been admittedly tough leaving my world for so long, and now jumping back in I’m reminded of all the love and health that supports being around your family for the holidays to share these special moments together. Open your presents, eat wonderfully delicious meals, and enjoy every second of it. Happy Holidays! xx
