You hit the snooze button one too many times and want a quick and healthy snack recipe that will energize you for yoga, get you through work, and keep you from reaching into the cookie jar. I’ve put together three absolutely delicious healthy energy bites that you can prepare days ahead, store in the refrigerator, and enjoy all day, everyday.
They are like mini balls of magic, energy, and sweetness. I love the dates add as they add a natural sweetness and help hold the bites together. The combination of oats and nuts provide a blend of clean energy, omegas, protein, and fiber. Pack the bites in plastic baggies and store them in the freezer for a quick, ready made snack.
Below are three of my favorite flavors to spice up this super clean snack with. You can play around with toppings and ingredients, but I found that between Banana Bread, Almond Butter & Jelly, and Chocolate Cherry all of your bases are covered!
Banana Bread Bites
This is like dessert in a bite-sized ball. It’s the most mild of the three, and my favorite. The almonds give it a nice crunch and the spices really tie together the banana bread!
Add to the basic recipe: 1 banana, 1 cup walnuts, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp nutmeg
Roll in: 1/3 cup chopped almonds
Almond Butter & Jelly BitesAlmond butter and jelly is something you can’t ever go wrong with. The raisins make a sweet jelly and the coconut flakes keep the nutty flavor. If you’re an almond butter addict then these are for you!
Add to the basic recipe: 1/2 cup almonds, 1/2 cup almond butter, 1/2 cup raisins
Roll in: 1/3 cup coconut flakes
Chocolate Cherry BitesThis chocolate cherry combination is an antioxidant superstorm! The raw cacao gives it the chocolate-y flavor while helping prevent against cancer, decrease inflammation, and lower cholesterol.
Add to the basic recipe: 1/2 cup coconut flakes, 1/2 cup dried cherries, 3 Tbsp raw cacao powder
Roll in: 1/3 cup cacao powder
