Just a year ago I sat in my tiny, but very charming New York City apartment wishing that I would just leave my comfort zone and travel. I wanted to get out of Manhattan as quick as I could to run away and explore the world face to face. A year later I’ve traveled to over 6 countries I hadn’t been before and found myself in beautifully remote locations I never thought possible. Upon returning, I then left my big life in New York to move to Miami where I sought a more relaxed lifestyle free from the everyday hustle and bustle of New York. Today I sit in a luxurious apartment having breakfast overlooking the ocean so thankful for every thought, feeling, and action that brought me to this very moment. Regardless of where on the map you are, it’s all of the moments of happiness, sadness, anxiety, calm, and adventure that lead you to the present, the place you’re meant to be. Not forever, but for now.
There are a few things I really love and some of those being 1) slowing down and 2) breakfast. After returning from New York this week and planning for next week’s European travels ahead I know that I have to put the brakes on and taste the sweet nectar of the present or else I’ll just continue to run myself down. Breakfast felt like the perfect place to put that energy this morning, so here I am sharing it with you.
Breakfast today was part tea and part umami berry granola with almond milk. Pique Tea, which you may have heard of because they’re all the rage right now, was totally responsible for calming me down a bit and giving me the motivation to put the brakes on life. Pique Tea is always a really easy choice because it comes in miniature packets (perfect for traveling) that dissolve in hot or cold water. The proprietary leaf-to-crystal process whereby they brew their tea leaves in low pressure and temperature give the tea crystals 2x the antioxidants vs other leading tea brands. So you’re not only getting the taste of tea, but double the nutrition! You knew there had to be a good reason I’m all over Pique Tea.
What else is there to love about tea?
Aside from the major antioxidant boost you get from drinking tea, even more so crystallized tea, there are a ton of other reasons you have to up your tea game. Tea has been shown to protect against heart disease by improving the health of the delicate cells that line the blood vessels and improving the function of endothelial cells. Diabetes prevention, weight loss, and liver disease prevention are also greatly improved by drinking tea, especially green tea. Tea plays a huge role in speeding up your metabolism and assisting in burning fat, so it’s a win-win for all kinds of healthy living.
Peace, reflection, and relaxation are just what I needed this morning and if you’re anything like me, you know there’s always time to slow down.
