I was speaking to my cousin over lunch this week and as conversation took its course it, naturally, landed in the food department. We journeyed through the our mothers’ cooking, her kids’ eating habits, and eventually parked at our cravings. I admitted my desire for a real good, but healthful, ice cream and she confessed her love for sweet, sugary drinks. And then we both agreed on everything in between.
Truth is, neither of us grew up on cake, cookies, or ice cream. Sure it was often available, but it was definitely not something I’d ask for or eat on my own. When the dessert options presented themselves, I went for fruit or some organic dessert my mama made. I think because of this, a regular, whole milk ice cream is still not something I would actively choose. I do, however, like coconut or almond milk sweet desserts as I find them to be lighter on the stomach and easier to digest.
So I experimented with my ice cream cravings and Esther’s sweet drink cravings and ended up with a dessert that’s chunky, rich, and all around delightful. The Creamy Vegan Cinnamon Chocolate Milkshake was born. I used my beloved Luna & Larry’s Coconut Bliss Dairy-Free Organic Ice Cream in Cinnamon Chocolate Fusion flavour to make all of your childhood dreams come true. It’s a spirited embrace of warm cinnamon and rich chocolate with chunks of chocolate floating in a sea of cinnamon ice cream.
