Stand alone villas are nice and all, but sometimes I crave being part of a resort. A resort that has a a big breakfast buffet, an expansive spa, a full fitness center, and a riveting pool. I found it all at Maya Resort and Spa in Ubud. There was nothing I didn’t like about this true Bali getaway. The room was spacious, the food was delicious, the spa was spectacular, and my dip in the pool was nothing short of spectacular. Paradise? Found….
When I think of Thailand now two things come to mind, beautiful beaches and really good food. Before embarking on this journey I didn’t really know much about Thai food aside from the obvious Pad Thai. I honestly didn’t even know curry was Thai until I touched down in Thailand. I was in for quite a surprise….
I’m not kidding when I say hidden. This secret villa is wedged away on an assuming rock road in Jimbaran, an area about 15 minutes South of the airport. You’d think absolutely nothing driving down the street, but once you come face to face with the massive entryway and full staff awaiting you with welcome drinks and cold hand towels you’ll quickly reconsider. Upon arriving at Villa Teana‘s private 4 bedroom, 5 bathroom haven, you’re met by your private butler and team.
There’s something about this elegant abode that’ll make you want to move right in.
With the nature of what I do, I stay in a lot of different places. Often I’ll stay at 2-3 hotels in the same area, so it becomes very hard to choose favorites when each one is better than the next. I particularly liked The Layar for its extremely spacious bedrooms (we stayed in the 3 bedroom) and lofted living space. The villa is even equipped with a full kitchen, huge pool area, and on-call golf cart to take you to the main road in Seminyak for shopping and eating. And the bathrooms? Out of this world. All 3 bedrooms had big beautiful bathtubs and showers that made taking a bath at any time of day very, very inviting….
I’ve never been to Santorini, but this is what I imagine it’s like. I picture infinity pools, sunsets out of a movie, and beautiful white accents. The breeze passing through as the sun went down sparked a magic inside that I never want to let go of. La Joya Biu Biu has its own private beach down below that’ll drift you off into paradise….
Psychedelic. Tie-Dye. Yogi Heaven.
If you’ve been, you know. If you haven’t, then you probably want to go. This Bali stay at The Chillhouse was slightly different than my usual as it wasn’t about luxury, but rather activities and adventure with really good food. Think tree-house living, bike-riding, yoga-flowing days all finished off with a special meal at the communal dinner table. If you’re looking for the more chic and honeymoon kind of trip check out my other reviews, but if you’re looking for an easy going lower cost trip this is your go….
Big city vibes with an Asian touch, welcome to Hong Kong. The two day layover here felt like two weeks and so much got done. We made a point to practice a hot vinyasa flow class at Pure Yoga and go for a raw veggie lunch at Maya Cafe, all while battling a cold and preparing for a month long adventure. Here goes….
Elegance. Class. Sophistication.
Our stay at The Intercontinental in Hong Kong embodied all of that and more. There was a certain something that set this city apart from any other. It’s always described as an Asian version of New York City, but I beg to differ. Hong Kong had a certain je ne sais quoi about it, but then again it may have just been our plush accommodations and to die for views of the harbor….
It all started with a little dream to start traveling and seeing the world through a bigger lens. Impulse led me to book the first flight and start a journey that would take me more than one place. I traveled through Bali, Indonesia and began to let go. I hope you’ll join me as I go. xo, tara …
Rating: Nice for Couples
After staying at The Mulia I was quite spoiled and used to more of a resort-vibe, so coming to Hu’u Villas was a bit of a shock. I arrived at midnight, so may not have gotten the full arrival and check in treatment but was well taken care of. After being escorted to my villa, I fell right asleep so didn’t spend that much time here. It was very quiet and villa-esque with a private pool, mini kitchen, and lofted bedroom. If you’re coming here I recommend visiting as a couple or with friends to liven it up. (Avg. price: $285/night)
