Once upon a time I had all of the time in the world to make several big green smoothies and a huge green salad for any given meal. As life would have it, today that’s just not the case. I must have been living in fantasy land (I was in college, so all the time makes sense) because there’s no way I’d be able to imagine having the headspace, energy, or planning to whip up greens like I did then. I remember vividly being so excited about my morning smoothie and using bunches and bunches of kale and spinach to fill my blender. I also recall making garlicky kale, green soup, and green salad in every which way; my head could explode just thinking about it. While I did feel on top of the world and so energized, I know that now running from meeting to meeting, airplane to airplane, and adventure to adventure, there had to be an alternative out there. …
Sooo I can be totally honest with you, right? I’ve never actually been a coffee-drinking kind of girl. Well, not for the last 21 years at least. But that doesn’t mean I haven’t been eyeing all these pretty and delicious looking frappa-mocha-spresso-ccinos for quite some time, especially when I was in college. Especially as a recipe-maker I knew it was time to break my coffee innocence and give it a shot. A really delicious one at that….
It’s summer, it’s hot out, and the chances that you’ll want a drink by the pool are running very high. The questions about a cleaner drink recipe have been flooding my inbox, so I figured it’s time to let the gates down and share my favorite Watermelon Vodka Slushy. All it takes is a blender or food processor, some fresh watermelon, and a touch of vodka to get this one just right….
Thick, smooth, and creamy, just the way I like my milkshakes. Oops, I mean smoothies. I’m not messing around when I tell you that this Chunky Monkey Protein Smoothie is actually healthy. Yes, healthy. There’s something about this decadent overflowing combination banana and cacao goodness that makes you want to think it’s bad for you, but once you read the ingredients you’ll get why it’s so good. Replace it with your breakfast or sip it instead of that milkshake that you find yourself craving from time to time….
How often is it that you find a clean alternative to a cookies and cream smoothie? Not very. Trust me, I’ve done my research. Once you make this smoothie once, you’ll be hooked on its thick, creamy, milkshake-like consistency that you’ll want to make double to last you through the day….
What’s better than waking up to the sweet rays of sunshine peeking through your blinds in the morning after a good night’s sleep? Ummm.. having a frothy strawberry coconut smoothie waiting for you of course. Well it might not be waiting for you, but it’s surely very easy to whip up and it’ll make your morning. The strawberries and coconut aren’t the stars here though, but it’s actually the lemon that makes this one come alive….
Why can’t it be summer already? I’m dreaming of the days when I can casually waltz out of my little NYC apartment dressed in a flowy sundress and my one-size-too-big sunglasses. Definitely not my heavy and, not to mention, unattractive winter coat. Enough dreaming about better days and time to start welcoming them with none other than this Tropical Mango Coconut Smoothie.
Coconut. Pitaya. Banana. There’s so much good about this bowl, I don’t even know where to start. This is one of those recipes that is up for your own interpretation and imagination. Me being the smoothie junkie I am threw together a bunch of deliciousness in the blender and.. bam! Out came the most creamy, fruity, and flavorful smoothie bowl. I topped it off with a strawberry lemonade popsicle and some white chia seeds to seal the deal. P.S. I used Bai‘s Molokai Coconut in this breakfast bowl concoction….
Just one sip of this Coconut Lime Chia Fresca Energy Drink and it’ll feel like you’re lounging on a soft white sand beach in Cabo, soaking up the sun without a care in the world. Back to reality though. I’m actually in New York, it’s 25F degrees, and I’m stuck in my apartment. A girl could dream though..
Sitting. Waiting. Wishing. Wondering. Wondering where in the world is Spring?! I decided to use my time wisely and make this Grapefruit Lime Mocktail, that could easily be turned into a cocktail, to ring in the Spring vibes for the weekend. While it may be a little early being that it’s still 17 degrees here in New York City, I won’t let that stop me from looking forward to sweet Spring days….
