If you were stuck on a desert island and could only have two food items what would you choose? I would go with avocados and almond butter. Avocados are one of my favorite and most used foods (if you couldn’t already tell!). They’re so versatile and satisfying, plus you can find them almost anywhere in the world. This week I got creative and remade my favorite restaurant-worthy avocado toast right at home for you. It’s one of the easiest and healthiest snack or meal dishes out there, so you have no excuse not to try it out.
It’s fun to play around with ingredients when it comes to avocados and toast. You can go sweet or salty, and top it with pretty much anything. This time around I used lemon juice, sprouts, Maldon sea salt (aka the greatest salt ever), and cayenne pepper. For an added touch I also lightly toasted the bread over a flame on my gas stove to serve it warm and extra toasty. If you want to switch it up, you can use honey instead of sprouts and cayenne, or add in veggies to make a lunch time sandwich out of it.
The nutritional benefits of avocados shouldn’t be forgotten when you get caught up in how good they taste! Avocados are one of the greatest sources of healthy fats, which are essential for increasing brain function, reducing inflammation, and protecting against certain types of cancers. And before you dive right in, you should also know that avocados are a go-to for glowing skin too. Now you have to try it!
